Thanks for the feedback! As a matter of fact I tried this idea out first with a double barrelled 22mm AA gun with armour on the front (where the head would have been) and it looked great!.... Except that it covered up about 75% of my work and just looked like a cheapo cut-and-paste. Not good in an advanced competition.

Indeed. The gun was deliberately and progressively defocused to try and match the original depth of field in the ant source pic.
