The medieval alchemists never managed to create the philosopher's stone. However, as a byproduct of their experiments they developed an antigravity field. They couldn't see much use for such device ("Who would want to float in the air, anyway?"), so they installed it in this cannon just for the fun of it.

Seriously, though, this must've been the most difficult photoshopping I've ever done and I'm very happy with the result. Full view is 1400x919.

The source photo is something I took some two years ago at the Suomenlinna fortress (at the coast of Helsinki, Finland).
